Shanks and Praise

The beer-bellied bastard child of Jonathan Richman and Prince, Charlotte North Carolina's Benji Hughes is ear crack. I dare you to listen to his sweet, soulful and humblingly biographical songs without becoming addicted. Missed his show in DC two weeks ago because my real job intervened. I'm sure by the time he comes around again he'll be playing stadiums. In fact, I was blown away yesterday when I recognized his song "Waiting for an Invitation" playing over the closing montage of this week's episode of CBS's "How I Met Your Mother." So enjoy his music now, before it becomes cliché.
