Artists We Like: Charlie Kaufman

via Boing Boing

Screenwriter Charlie Kaufman (Being John Malkovich, Adaption, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind) is making his directorial debut with Synecdoche, New York, which will receive limited release this Friday, October 24, 2008.

The movie will apparently continue Kaufman's favorite theme of blurring reality.  On that note, one of the characters in the movie, artist Adele Lack (played by one of our most favs, Catherine Keener) is having a gallery opening tonight at the Montalban Gallery in Hollywood, California.  The exhibit features Ms. Adele's work, which consists of tiny one inch paintings that gallery attendees are given magnifying glasses to appreciate.  It's not clear whether Boing Boing was originally in on the joke when they hyped the exhibit, but it was quickly pointed out in the comments.

Speaking of which . . .
